Courtyard by Marriott Bhopal

This was my first stay at marriott, and I trusted the brand when I paid 12,500 for a room through the official site with an advance reservation. The experience was terrible: the room was unclean, the reservation wasn’t honored, and the furnishings were old and unrenovated. I had specifically booked a King size bed in a non-smoking room, but reception first gave me a smoking room. The lobby and room both smelled strongly of smoke, and the furniture was very old. When I complained, they said the only non-smoking room available was one with a Queen bed. What’s the point of booking ahead if they can’t hold the room requested? The second room also had stained, old furnishings. The extra bed was made improperly, with sheets that were the wrong size and left untucked. Staff said that was what they provided for an extra bed. We ordered tea twice, and both times the cups were dirty, with old tea stains stuck inside. I didn’t expect this poor quality from Marriott at that price.

The food is the real highlight here, especially the amazing, super tasty breakfast spread. The business lounge on the 4th floor is great for work and meetings, and the location is really convenient, near a mall with lots of options around. I’ve had a great time here on multiple visits and would definitely recommend it.

The best part of our family stay last week at Courtyard by Marriott, Bhopal was the Momo Cafe. The food was superb, and Subhadeep did his best to prepare my meals according to my fast. The staff there were friendly and very helpful. The hotel is conveniently located, with clean, spacious rooms and good views. Reception, security, and housekeeping all provided excellent service, and the shared areas felt welcoming to guests. We had a really enjoyable stay.

At check-in, they charged 13% more in tax, saying the online booking had a lower tax charge. Then Mr. bhura from the Hotel management swimming pool area told me I should have brought a Swimming costume from home if I wanted to get into the pool. That really ruined the mood. If you run a Five star property, please be better prepared to welcome guests.
