The only highlight for our family was the view of Hamirsar Lake. We were 20 relatives staying at Hotel Shiv Lake, Bhuj for 3 nights and 4 days, and the rest of the experience was extremely disappointing. At about 10-11°C in winter, there was no hot water at night. We were told it would be available in the morning, but it still wasn't working properly. We asked staff repeatedly and kept hearing that it would start soon. It never did. They eventually said it was because so many of us were using hot water at once, which is no excuse for failing to provide such a basic service. There were no drinking water bottles, the room service phones didn't work, some rooms had poor lighting, and the bedsheets weren't changed daily, which felt unhygienic. Service and maintenance were very poor. I wouldn't recommend it, especially for families or anyone staying in winter.

The staff were kind overall, and the room service was especially good. The location was good too, but I had a bad experience with the owner. I booked at a slightly discounted rate and paid an advance for 2 nights. After confirming the stay, the owner told me the next day that I should move to a nearby hotel because he had apparently taken another booking at a higher rate. When I refused, he argued with me, then calmed down and started cooperating after I said I would write a bad review. He was very sweet later, and I finished my stay.

The rooms were dirty and the washrooms were in a very unhygienic state. After my client Priyanka checked in, the hotel staff seemed to forget their responsibility and focused on pressuring us for payment, speaking as if either she or I might run off without paying. The service felt dishonest and completely unacceptable, and the staff and sales person behaved very poorly and didn't seem professional at all. I'm a travel agent and had arranged the booking for my client. Gujarat is a good state, but a few people made the whole experience very bad. If uneducated people run a hotel, this is how clients get treated. That's why this is still a 2-star property. 🫡

The price is very reasonable, and the hotel is decent and clean. Some rooms have a nice lake view, and the staff were extremely friendly. The one problem was other guests speaking loudly in the public areas and not showing much respect for those around them.

Being close to the GSRTC Bus stand in Bhuj makes Hotel shiv lake a comfortable place to stay while visiting. I'd recommend it to other travelers.
