Hotel Shanti

The Wi-Fi was very strong, and the rooms stayed cool and dark enough that AC might not be needed. But for senior people who don’t need Wi-Fi, the price didn’t match the slow service. I came with my parents to the holy city, and the hotel was a real letdown. The management and treatment were poor even by Indian standards. Its location felt useless, tucked somewhere off the road, and even rickshaw drivers got frustrated. Staff seemed inexperienced but acted as if they knew better. People here were generally very rude and wouldn’t listen to a request a second time, sadly. They claimed there was hot water, but there was no geyser installed. We waited, but the hot water got used up and you had to wait until you gave up. There was no electricity when it was needed most. A place like this needs a generator, not a puny inverter. There wasn’t even a cupboard or a hanger in the room, and the bathroom had no mirror, which made shaving hard. It was a bad deal overall. Stay period: october 2015.

I paid Rs. 600 a night, which felt extremely expensive for what I got. In Gaya city, I later found the same kind of room for Rs. 400. When I raised the problems with owner Binay, he made excuses about giving me a double bed instead of a single, though I was alone and only needed one bed. The room had no phone, no drinking water, soap, or towel at first, and there were no curtains. The bathroom light didn't work and there wasn't even a mirror. The TV looked about 25 years old. When a towel finally arrived, it was quite dirty. I posted several pictures. Look elsewhere if you want better service.

The room is spacious and has the necessities you need while staying there. I'd consider this hotel for a future trip.

I had a good experience here. The rooms are quite spacious, and the location is a real plus, with Mahabodhi temple, the main attraction, very close by.
