Senamura Yoga Ashram Guesthouse

The place is far enough from the busy part of Bodhgaya to feel peaceful, without adding much to the ride. They offer taxi service and tasty meals. The family running it is amazing, warm, and receptive, and they use their businesses to fund a grade school next to the Ashram. The hot water setup is the best I’ve experienced in Asia.

Watching sunrise from the rooftop was one of my favorite parts of staying at Senamura. I spent two months there during the Sattva Gate project, and it felt like a second home. Set among vegetable fields and lush greenery, it’s a peaceful break from the city, but still only 10 minutes from town by rickshaw. The large yoga hall worked well for meditation, yoga, or group activities. As a family-run guest house, Senamura has warm, welcoming staff who were always ready to help with questions, tours, or just making me feel at home. Homemade meals made with fresh local vegetables were a highlight. Senamura also supports the Prema Metta School next door, so staying there contributes to a cause. You can often hear the children during the day, which gives the place a lively, uplifting feel. If you want a peaceful retreat with comfort, purpose, and a connection to the local community, I can’t wait to return.

Anup and his team are great, and the yoga hall has a very good feel with the energies of shivananda. It’s a very good place to stay in bodh gaya, with the orphanage and the village of ganga bidha both very close to the ashram.

My best friend and I spent a week here, and we’d love to come back soon. We even cooked dinner together, which was amazing. The service was 10 out of 10: when we mentioned the cold nights, the staff brought extra blankets and we slept really well. They also took us by motorcycle to see the morning market. The guesthouse is beside the school and surrounded by nature, which made the stay so refreshing. Our room was really clean and had a hot shower.
