Hotel Nawal Sagar Palace Bundi

The climb up all those stairs was the one downside, though the owner is looking into it. If that gets sorted, we’ll happily stay here for a long time when we’re older. The owner has put a lot of effort into restoring the place with an authentic Rajasthani palace feel, and was friendly and full of knowledge. From one side, mornings bring a view of the lake, and from the other, the palace. The fort palace is only a 10-minute walk away. Bundi itself seems to be a mystery to many tourists, but we were amazed by its rich history and loved the hotel’s location.

The check-out was another mess. Guests waited at least 30 minutes for room-service staff to bring their luggage down, and a promised discount on the Rs.8,900 food bill was withdrawn at checkout after being agreed to the night before. My team of 20 checked in yesterday, 07/10/2025, Wednesday, after I booked 3 Suite Room, 3 Deluxe Room and 2 Standard Room. The Standard Rooms were small and basic, while the Deluxe Rooms lacked basic amenities. I spoke with the front office person once on 06/10/2025 and six times yesterday morning, but when the guests arrived and checked in at 1.50 pm, there was no water in the washroom or bathroom. I confirmed the lunch order at 9.49 am and specifically asked for it between 2.15-2.30 pm, but it arrived around 3.55 pm. This is the most amateurish hotel approach I’ve experienced. A nice heritage hotel by the water, and good value for money. The staff are very friendly, polite and welcoming. It only has basic amenities.

The food was a bland, tasteless buffet, almost uneatable. I can cook more spice into a meal at home. The staff, with one kind exception, were very unfriendly and unhelpful, including to our female guide. The rooms were as low-class as they come. There were leeches in the bathroom, the bed was basically a wooden plank, and gaps between the window frame and wall let cold wind straight into the room. The technology was extremely old and unsafe, with unsecured wires left in the room, and it needed an old Indian power plug. We left our keys at the so-called reception, just a table in the courtyard, and came back to find them unguarded two metres from the street, where anyone could take them. We were on a group tour whose management had booked this hotel. Horrible experience. I can only recommend that people do not go here. It’s like the staff, except for one kind person, don’t know how to run a hotel.
