Hotel Celi

The room was clean and spacious, and we could walk to the beach. But parking was a real problem. Although there was space inside the property, they wouldn’t let us park there or help us find another spot. We spent hours looking for a nearby shared parking place and ended up paying 1,200 rupees. Staff also wouldn’t help carry our luggage upstairs. There wasn’t a table in the room, and they didn’t provide plates either.

The AC worked and the room itself was clean, but the blankets smelled, the pillows were dirty, and there was no AC remote. The second-floor rooms are under a tin roof and get so hot you’ll feel roasted even with the AC running. It’s also a small guesthouse with only around 8 to 10 rooms, not really what the map location suggests. It sits on a narrow road behind Calangute beach parking, and cabs can’t easily get to the entrance. They gave us tap water in a plastic mug instead of a sealed drinking water bottle. I stayed for two days and two nights, and wouldn’t pay more than Rs 1,000. You might as well find a guesthouse with the same service for less.

Our trip was overshadowed by my husband's mobile going missing at night. We spent the next days going to the police station and looking for CCTV from places we’d visited. Each day the staff asked about updates, and we told them what we knew. With our 9-month-old baby along, we had no phone for almost four days, and the whole thing was frightening instead of enjoyable. My husband kept telling the hotel staff where we’d searched, including the beach and police station. The day after he said police were trying to track the phone by IMEI, the staff seemed frightened. The next day the mobile had been quietly left on some stones beside the hotel. We believe they stole it. They showed no care about what we were going through, even with the baby. NEVER VISIT THIS HOTEL.

Hotel Celi is handy for the beach, and we found the rooms clean, spacious, and well kept. There’s hot and cold water, and the staff were polite, helpful, and quick when we needed something. The hotel doesn’t provide food or drinking water, though. It was a comfortable stay, with good service and easy beach access. A nice, peaceful option that’s budget-friendly. Highly recommended!
