Ocean View Goan Beach House

If all you need is a cheap bed for the night and plan to spend your time on the beach, this might do. It’s right on the beach, the caretaker is very helpful and polite, and the rooms and bathrooms are clean. The old ACs work somehow at a constant temperature. But the rooms and bathrooms are tiny, the beds are hard, and the lights are very dim. The property is badly worn. It appears to be an old church converted into rooms, and rainwater dripped through the roof into the room. One room used as a guest room or caretaker’s storeroom had no lock on the bathroom door. It feels as if the owner doesn’t want to spend any time or money on upkeep. There’s no food on site, though a restaurant is just across the way. Parking is a problem: you have to try the nearby public lot, and in peak season you may not find a space. Otherwise, paid parking is much farther away. The approach is through a very narrow lane where only one car can just about pass. If you want a standard hotel room, I wouldn’t advise staying here.

Staff were really nice, especially Zakir Hussain. The main draw is how close the hotel is to the beach, just a couple of steps away, and you can even see the waves from there. The rooms are very basic and not up to standard. It’s an old building that hasn’t been properly maintained. If you’re mainly here for the beach, though, it’s a good option because getting there is so easy.

The beach-facing location was a surprise, right across from the shore. The building is quite old, with an old-fashioned design. The beds were well maintained, but the rooms need more upkeep, especially a cleaner, renovated toilet.

Finding this guest house was very difficult, and there aren’t even signboards to guide you. There’s no food, and only one staff member was around; he was rude. They said there were water heaters, but they run on solar power, so we had to bathe in cold water. I fell sick that same day. The rooms are tiny, impossible for three people to manage. Better to stay on the beach than here.
