Shalom Guest House

We had a great vacation at Shalom guest house and made use of the cooking option in our very clean room. It’s one of the best budget stays in candolim. The owner, Deepak, is kind and guided us well.

We spent 17 days at Shalom Guest House and had an amazing stay. The place felt peaceful and homely, a good fit for a long visit. Our room didn’t have AC, but the natural atmosphere and ventilation kept it comfortable. The surroundings were calm, and the place felt safe and welcoming. The staff were friendly and ready to help, and cleanliness was well maintained. The guest house had what we needed for a comfortable stay. It’s a relaxed, budget-friendly option for longer stays, especially if you value simplicity and a warm, calm atmosphere.

The host is what really sets Shalom apart. Deepak was kind and helpful at any hour, gave us tips on places to visit, and sat and chatted about the local area. He was lovely company. On checkout day, he even drove me back to my base hotel because it was so hot. That’s a level of service you don’t get at other guest houses, and he’s a credit to Shalom. We booked Shalom as a stopover between nearby hotels, but the value was so much better than we expected that we wished we’d stayed there the whole time. Our other hotel, which was labelled “luxury,” cost five times as much and had cockroaches, rats, and bed bugs. I was bitten so badly I needed treatment when I got home. To be clear, those bites definitely came before our stay at Shalom. I wish I were joking, but you can check my other Goa hotel review for proof. Shalom, by contrast, was spotless. It isn’t a five star property, but the value for money is exceptional. Shalom is in the heart of Candolim, a short stroll from the beach, and makes a simple, comfortable place to rest and recharge. Our room was clean, air-conditioned, and had Wi-Fi and everything else we needed. There was a large open area outside where we could sit in the evening. One thing to know: the walk back after dark is dimly lit, and we found phone torches handy. The property is among other guest houses and local homes, which made the area feel peaceful and safe, away from busy main roads. I’d highly recommend it if you want a clean, affordable, welcoming stay in Candolim.

The location was just right, and the rooms had all the necessary amenities and were really good. Deepak, the host, was very polite and helpful.
