Shanu's Seaside Inn

Candolim beach is just a 30-second walk away, and there are nearby shacks and restaurants since food isn’t served at the homestay. The owner, Shanu, was very friendly, as were all the helpful staff. Dog lovers should say hello to Moka, the in-house dog. Victor, the owner’s neighbour, can arrange scooters and taxis at reasonable prices. We had a lovely, homely stay and enjoyed North Goa. It was a great base for peaceful walks along the beach, and I’d definitely recommend it.

We spent five nights at Shanus seaside inn and had a great time. Michele and Shanu made us feel welcome and helped with pretty much everything, from food spots and restaurants to places to visit and scooty rentals. The room details are laid out clearly on their site and WhatsApp catalogue. Our standard room with balcony, U5, was a nice little room for two, with AC. It’s a family-run guest house with the necessary amenities. The lane is very narrow for cars, though a skilled driver can get through. They provide towels, but not shampoo, soap or handwash, so bring your own.

The gardens are lush and well cared for, and waking up to birdsong felt like a Disney movie moment. This four generation family property has paid attention to so many small details. The narrow road worried us at first, but a skilled driver can reach the dedicated parking spot. Fresh asphalt was being laid when we arrived, a nice sign of upkeep. Candolim Beach is a short walk away, with shacks and essentials nearby. There’s no TV in the rooms, which gives you a reason to head out for the sunsets. My husband was skeptical at first because it sounded too good to be true, and I regret not finding this place sooner. It felt like a well aged wine, with a lovely balance of everything.
