Aamod Dalhousie

We felt deceived from the moment we arrived. We had booked Aamod Hotels based on its original location and premises, only to find that both had changed without notice. The management had also been replaced, and the team we encountered seemed unprofessional and unconcerned about guests. The place felt neglected and poorly maintained, with no proper facilities for elderly guests. We found it especially unsafe for the senior members of our family and were uncomfortable throughout our stay. I’d warn others away; the risk isn’t worth it.

The staff were smart and very accommodating, and staying here was one of my finest experiences. The bird and other wildlife around the property are wonderful, though barb wire everywhere takes away from the nature walks. I’m also nitpicking about the limited alcohol selection, which is understandable given how remote the place is. Still, they shouldn’t advertise a wider choice.

The food was delicious and felt homemade, and the chefs and staff deserve full marks. Our rooms were spacious, comfortable, and clean, and the restaurant was tidy and beautifully presented. Staff were courteous and well behaved throughout. Mr. Hansraj, the resort manager, was especially kind and helpful. Set beside a thick forest on a hilltop, Aamod Dalhousie feels close to nature, and on a sunny day you can clearly see the Pir panjal range. The property was clean and well managed. We arrived with good expectations, but the good feeling inside and around the resort made this a memorable trip, and we left with lovely memories.

Bring your own vehicle or arrange a taxi, since the property is 6km from the main market. There’s no wifi, and mobile phones won’t work either, so be ready for a stay completely without internet or phone service. The activities seemed to be there in name only, as I wasn’t provided anything like cycling. Views vary by room, so which one you get is down to luck, though the rooms are nicely furnished. The setting is scenic and the rooms have nice views. Service was average. The food was good but too expensive. For what I spent, I’d still call it value for money.
