Three of the six people in our group had serious stomach problems after eating at the DLS ARK Holiday Inn restaurant in Banikhet. That’s very concerning and raises questions for me about the food handling, hygiene, and kitchen standards. The food itself was well below expectations: poor taste, freshness, preparation, and presentation, with even basic dishes not cooked or balanced properly. After much better food and hospitality in Dharamshala, this was shocking. The service and response to feedback were just as disappointing. The chef seemed unable or unwilling to understand the concern we were explaining. Rather than address it professionally or take responsibility, the response came across as dismissive and indifferent. Food and guest care matter as much as rooms and views, and this restaurant seriously affected our stay. Food quality, kitchen hygiene, handling complaints, and staff professionalism all need major improvement. I wouldn’t recommend dining here unless things change.

I was really disappointed with the basement room I was given. The reception is on the ground floor, then comes parking, and the basement is even lower. The room was among the worst categories, seemed refurbished, and had a door lock that didn’t work properly. Since it’s underground, there was no network. It was near the laundry room, and getting there meant climbing a steep staircase. The food and outside appearance were good, and the service deserves praise, but at around 4k for a room I didn’t expect this. The owner shouldn’t give this kind of room to guests and could use it for something else instead.

The hotel is a long way from the city center, though the family room is good for a family stay. The wifi needs fixing because it wasn’t working. Most of all, the hotel should treat van and cab drivers with respect, and at least provide them with food and a clean, decent place to freshen up.

We stayed from 18th to 20th March 2026, four adults and a four-year-old child, after Postcard Trips suggested DLS hotels in Dalhousie. The hotel is in Banikhet, some distance from Dalhousie’s main center, and the views were fairly ordinary compared with their property in Naddi. The road can be a bit rough in the rain. Still, it’s one of the best hotels in Banikhet. Our luxury room was spacious, with a huge balcony, though the rain meant we couldn’t really use it. The food, service, staff, and everything else were great, and reception were very helpful. Thanks to everyone for making us comfortable. My one suggestion is about the heaters. Since it gets very cold and the room rates are reasonable, they should be included in the price. The heater charge here was double what we paid in Naddi.

The food was delicious, and the whole stay left us feeling very satisfied. Fathe Sharma Hotel in DLS Spring Valley was peaceful, with clean rooms and lovely surroundings, and we found it very comfortable. The staff were polite and helpful from start to finish. Special thanks to Fathe Sharma Sir for looking after everyone so warmly and making sure things went smoothly. I’d happily stay here again and recommend it to anyone coming to the area.
