Abu Sarovar Portico

The hotel looks like a posh 5 star place, but after one day I felt a roadside hotel would be better. It’s very costly and the food is low quality and unhygienic, with no variety or enough food, as if they think we’re staying for free. They serve only veg, no non-veg, and wouldn’t even provide good food once. Cockroaches are commonly seen in the washrooms. The TV is just for show and doesn’t work. The door locks don’t lock properly and take a hectic effort to open and close.

They took the full payment before our reception was over, and I felt they knew there would be problems. We hosted 500 guests, but the hotel had no generator backup, so people were left without AC. The place was under renovation and several AC services had been shut down. We were only told four days beforehand that they could supply 5kv watt. The management’s service was awful and put us and our guests through a lot. Three years ago, Abu Sarovar was something else. Now I wouldn’t recommend it for a stay or a room unless you’re willing to sleep with cockroaches, deal with a wet bathroom floor, and put up with a bad smell. It feels like they’re collecting money from guests to renovate the hotel.

The staff were polite and refunded the unused night when I checked out after just one day of a two-day booking. The location is great, and with proper upkeep this could be a good place, but the rooms were dirty and poorly maintained. I expected a five-star hotel and got something more like a highway motel. Bad experience.

The infrastructure has deteriorated and needs a prompt review. Hygiene, service, and hospitality all need work, and customer service feels apathetic. I wonder how this place stays listed on travel sites when it has had one-star reviews for a year.
