The entrance and reception look beautiful, but the rooms don’t live up to them. I can’t see how this is rated four stars. The bathrooms are dated and shabby, and the towels are grey. In the rooms overlooking the pool, the flooring is so warped from the heat and humidity that you could cut your feet on it. It also smells unpleasant. The rooms shown on the website must be kept for 'favourite' guests.

The stay was good, and the staff were good too. The rooms are old and not modern, though. Even for such an old property, the atmosphere doesn’t feel authentically vintage.

The restaurant is small for the number of guests, as large tour groups bring in a lot of people. Food outside is better and cheaper. Also, avoid checking in on the 6th floor, since the 7th floor is under construction.

The good location and delicious food are the bright spots. Otherwise, it’s an average stay in a very old hotel with no proper facilities. The rooms are tiny, the wooden panels are broken, paint is peeling, and the spring mattresses sag. The place needs an upgrade and an update for 2026.

I had to stay at Ambassador Pallava for a week, and the service was far behind hotels in the same price range, even compared with IBIS. Dining was especially poor: the food quality was very bad, the hall was crowded, and staff couldn’t keep up with serving guests. The buffet was arranged badly, and service felt arrogant and partial toward preferred customers. Ordered dishes took a long time, the menu barely changed from day to day, and choices, including desserts, were very limited. Housekeeping was also lacking. Essentials like tea bags weren’t replenished, requested items arrived very late even after repeated calls, and room cleaning was substandard on following days. There was no complimentary laundry service.
