Ayur Resorts

We went with a big group of cousins and family during Pongal, and the resort was really short-staffed. The few people working were courteous and accommodating, though. It's a quiet, simple, neat place off ECR, good for a peaceful weekend. Nothing especially luxurious or flashy, so look elsewhere if that's what you want. It's strictly no liquor, and it specializes in spa treatments and massages, though I didn't try those. A good budget option for a family weekend.

We spent two nights here with the whole family, including two kids. The staff were friendly from the front desk through to the restaurant, and Manager monu was helpful with directions and the little things we needed. The pool was clean, the kids enjoyed it and the small play area, and we liked that it was a non-smoking, non-drinking resort for our family trip. At the little restaurant, lamour, meals are made after you order, so give them about 45 minutes' notice. Priyanka and Alif were great servers and tried to handle all our requests. Chef Anbu made every meal feel home-cooked and doesn't use ajino motto. Prices were reasonable. We also tried the Ayur massage centre. jishnu was receptive and did a good job with the massage. People were cleaning around the property throughout. Everything was great for a calm, relaxing holiday with kids.

The royal suite impressed all of us, and both room and food costs were pretty reasonable. The resort is 40kms from Mahabalipuram and is mainly for Ayurvedic treatments, massage, and steam baths. Treatment charges seemed modest compared with the hefty packages some resorts offer. There's no bar, and alcohol isn't encouraged. If you do bring it, you can have it in your room, not outside. Beyond the treatments, there's little to do. Families with kids may need to plan other ways to keep them busy; there is just a small play area and a similarly small pool. Staff were polite and kind but slow, and seemed inexperienced handling a lot of guests or a full house. I'd recommend it if you're coming mainly for the Ayurvedic services.

Terrible service. We booked a day visit through a third-party site, then called the resort to check. The manager told us to come, so we drove two hours, only to hear that the booking wasn't confirmed. We called the third party ourselves, and eventually got it sorted. Then the person in charge said the food was à la carte and would take an hour and a half, meaning lunch wouldn't arrive until 4 pm. The response to our concerns was that we could leave if we didn't like it. Pathetic attitude.
