Elite Residency Velacheri

The rooms are a bit small, but the owner is genuine. If you want somewhere outside IIT but close to it, this is a good choice: about a 10-minute walk from IIT Madras, just outside the Velachery gate beside pheoNix market city. It's also midway between Guindy railway station and pheoNix market city.

Getting around the property is a hassle since there’s no elevator, so you have to haul your bags up the stairs. The area nearby isn’t pleasant either. They didn’t provide a towel or toiletries, and there’s no refrigerator.

The rooms smelled bad and were in poor shape, with no AC. There was drainage running right in front of the hotel. I booked through OYO, but after I arrived they first told me there was no room, then offered one offline at twice the price. The staff were very rude.

I had no electricity or water for four hours, so I left because of the inconvenience. The staff at elite residency treated me like a street person. The room service was terrible. Please don’t stay at elite residency in velachery. It was a very bad experience.
