It’s in Chennai’s commercial area, centrally located and well maintained. Quick service is one of its key features, which is what everyone wants. It suits a budget, and it’s around 10-15 minutes from the station by vehicle. Mostly suited to business trips, but could also work for a family or leisure trip.

There aren’t enough plug points, and to charge something you have to switch off the TV. The AC is there but completely damaged, so with the room closed up, there’s no air circulation. The bathing water is salty, like sea water, and sometimes the toilet gets blocked. There’s no dining, so we had to go to NSC bose road or near beach station for food. After 7pm, we couldn’t come out of the lodge. Drunk people roam around in the slum area, and it doesn’t feel safe for ladies.

The confirmed booking couldn’t be found when we arrived, and English was barely spoken. I wanted to see the room before paying, but what I saw was a big letdown, so I decided to stay one night instead of the three I’d booked. They also wanted about 500 rupees more than the reservation amount. The place was dirty and noisy. One blanket was missing, and neither the AC remote nor the TV remote worked. We’d been asking for blankets for three hours and were still waiting. At least there’s a wine shop around the corner. :(

The lodge is handy for the beach, government offices, Burma Bazaar, and bank visits. There’s a railway station opposite. Service was good and the room looked good, with towels and soap provided, but there was no hot water for bathing. The area didn’t feel suitable for people looking for a more upscale stay, there’s no car parking, and food wasn’t provided.
