The location was just average for the hotel’s overall quality, but everything else made for a comfortable, safe stay. I spent one day there and found the room clean, well kept, and just right. The ambience felt premium, and the staff were polite, helpful, and supportive. A pleasant option for a short stay.

I booked this hotel because it’s close to Central, and the food was good. I came from Canada with my family for a short visit to Madras University and stayed on Sep 01, 2023. But the way people working there stared at us made me very uncomfortable. The manager was no help when I raised it, since he was the one who hired them for cheap wages. The room service guy came in staring too. At the mess, a small room like a dungeon, two or three men stay out monitoring the food, and they stare as well. It feels risky for women or girls traveling alone to Chennai. I don’t think it’s a problem for family members, but a stare is still a stare.

As a woman traveling alone, I had an amazing stay. The staff were very polite, and service came quickly. Cleanliness and safety were both 10/10. Thanks for being such an amazing host 🙏

Our family’s stay at Grand Oliver in Chennai was one of the worst we’ve had. The place felt shady and unsafe, especially with children along. Inside, the rooms were filthy, and hygiene seemed to be ignored. The bedsheets and bathrooms were poorly maintained, which made everything uncomfortable. The staff were rude, unhelpful, and unprofessional, with no courtesy or respect for guests. If you want somewhere clean, safe, and pleasant in Chennai, I’d advise against booking this hotel.
