Hotel Nandini Palace

The bar is very old and the service is poor.

The staff were friendly, and the free breakfast was really good. Since it's inside the city, you can easily reach the big malls, the beach, and Chennai's biggest local market. I found the rooms a bit pricey, but the location seems to push up the rate. Don't order extra food from the restaurant, it's far too expensive. Better to get it at a local hotel.

There's no Wi-Fi signal, and I couldn't get mobile network in the rooms. Breakfast had nothing to eat, and from the menu all you could actually get was dal and roti. They don't take cards, and they also charge a luxury tax. A one-liter bottle of water costs 40 rupees.

The hotel seems like it may have been a star hotel once, but for a single-person stay I'd choose a new, good hotel for 1500 rupees instead. I stayed for two days because this seemed to be the only option nearby within my budget. The window AC cooled the room really well. Some rooms had an old-style big TV, while others had an LED TV. Each room had a geyser, but the tap water was coming out colored, maybe because the tank hadn't been cleaned yet. Breakfast was the worst, just idli, dosa, sambar, chutney, and tea or coffee. They sprayed Hit in the bathroom with good intentions, but forgot to remove the cockroach carcasses. There's also a bar and food room service with a menu card. The place has potential if management takes the initiative to fix the problems. Let's see.
