Madras Regency

I booked well ahead on December 30th for my trip from Bangalore to Chennai, but when I arrived at Madras Regency today, they said the hotel was full. I was coming from out of town and arriving at the Koyambedu bus stand, so having a confirmed booking and finding no room was extremely frustrating. There was no warning beforehand and no effort to sort it out. A hotel shouldn't confirm a room and then fail to hold it. This showed a total lack of professionalism and basic hospitality. Avoid it if you need somewhere you can count on. They don't honor their commitments.

I've stayed here several times, and check-in is usually delayed. This visit was worse: despite getting confirmation three days before, they said at the last minute that no rooms were available. I waited about 30 minutes, then left to look for another hotel. Only after I left did they call back and offer a room. I also noticed hygiene issues in the restroom that need attention. The stay was decent overall, but the price felt high for the experience.

The service was very poor, and the breakfast in the morning was too bad. For what they offered and how we were treated, 2500 wasn't worth it. One day at 600-1000 would have made more sense. The main strategy at madras regency seems to be taking money for a completely wasted service. Idiotic fellows. There are plenty of hotel rooms around this location, so don't plan to stay here. We'd planned to stay one day for my interview. A week earlier, we called to say we'd arrive at 6 in the evening and check out at 6 the next evening, and they accepted. We booked online. But when we arrived on the booked day, the receptionist said they wouldn't accept that and we'd have to book for a second day if staying past 12 pm. If they wanted another 2500, they should have explained that clearly. Accepting this over the phone and refusing us when we arrived was totally unfair and money-minded.

The room still wasn't clean even after I mentioned it in the morning. The manager was rude when we asked for service, and the staff are much worse now. On my previous stays here, the staff were very good. Please don't come here.
