OYO 30579 Royal Palace Marina

We never got to see the rooms because the hotel wouldn’t let us stay. I booked a discounted rate at Royal Palace Marina through Agoda, but when we arrived in the evening, staff said they didn’t accept foreigners and refused to honor the reservation. They told us to sort it out with Agoda and blamed us for using the platform. Agoda had directed us to contact the hotel, but staff wouldn’t help and got defensive when we tried to find a solution. The last-minute handling was unprofessional and disrupted our travel plans. We quickly found other nearby hotels that accepted foreign guests and treated us respectfully. A hotel that lists rooms on a booking platform should be ready to honor confirmed reservations or help when there’s a problem. It controls whether it participates, what rooms it offers, and what rates it accepts. Guests shouldn’t be stuck between the hotel and its platform. Either honor bookings made through your chosen partners or stop taking them.

The receptionist was rude, arrogant, and disrespectful, and insisted that the extra ₹500 had to be paid directly to him rather than into the hotel account. I’d booked a 24-hour room at Royal Palace Hotel Marina for ₹1500 and checked out just two hours late, but they demanded that extra charge. It felt like outright cheating. They said all rooms were booked, then logged into their website and showed me plenty of vacant ones when I asked for proof. One of the most disappointing hotel stays I’ve had.

A comfortable, surprisingly affordable option near Chennai’s station. The room was nice, the staff were friendly, and it’s really convenient. I’d recommend it for a budget stay.
