OYO Townhouse 052 Tidel Park Adyar

It's a compact, neat and clean room in what seems to be a fairly new place, tucked into a residential side lane. The couple of staff members there were helpful. There's hot water and the AC works, but no tea or coffee at the hotel, so you have to walk to the main road. A typical budget OYO, fine for getting whatever you came to do done, but not somewhere I'd pick for a pleasure trip.

The room and bed looked clean, and the interiors were good. But the bathroom smelled all day because of poor drainage, and the bucket and jug were in bad shape. The jug was an old paint can. The water bottles weren't sealed and looked refilled, so I couldn't tell if they were cleaned. They advertised one rate online and charged another, and the hospitality wasn't good for the price.

The only real advantage is that it's within walking distance of tidel park. I stayed four days and asked my company to move me somewhere better. It's on a street, and the photos are misleading. It feels like a hostel converted into a hotel. The bed linen and towels weren't clean, the bathroom always stank, and the bucket and mug were dirty. They don't provide toiletries. Bring your own bedsheet if you're staying here. Breakfast was the worst part. It came in containers from local vendors, and you were lucky to get it by 8 AM. I had only coffee for all four days.

We couldn't bathe because almost no water came from the taps, and the mixer was broken. We had to cancel the booking and leave that morning. When we told the person on duty at night, he said, "if you're not taking bath in the night why do you bother, plumber will come in the day time & fix it". The room smelled bad, the linens were stained, and the breakfast wasn't good. Two of us had upset stomachs during the day.
