The only advantage was how close the hotel is to Besant Nagar Beach. We booked through MakeMyTrip and got Room 206 on the second floor. Apart from the bed, everything felt poorly maintained and uncomfortable. Cockroaches were visible, and the AC wouldn't cool the room even when set to 16°C. The bathroom was in very bad shape, with poor cleanliness and maintenance, and most of the taps didn't work properly. The whole experience felt unhygienic and disturbing. I wondered whether guests who book directly might get better rooms, since that wasn't our experience through MakeMyTrip. This was one of my worst hotel stays in Adyar.

Bike parking is available, though car parking is limited, and the rooms are quite small. We had the basic things we needed to rest, including hot water, a TV, AC, and a comfortable bed. I stayed here with my family on January 1st, mainly because it’s about 1 km from Besant Nagar Beach. The waiting hall is tiny, and there are no shared washrooms for guests waiting to check in, which is awkward after a journey. There’s no breakfast or bottled drinking water, and the cleanliness could be better for the price. It’s okay for a day or two because of the location. The reception area and staff could improve, especially by giving accurate information and making basic facilities available to arriving guests.
We went to Chennai yesterday, my wife and I, and stayed here. The room was clean and nicely maintained. For a reasonably priced place near Besant Nagar Beach, it’s a good option.
The location is the one good thing about this place. Our room, G4, got locked at night and we couldn’t open it. We asked for another room just to use the washroom, but they said everything was full. We waited over an hour for the locksmith, finally got back in, and had dinner around 10:45 PM. The bathroom is only a little bigger than a tiny shower cubicle, and paint was peeling off the wall. I also saw several unmarried couples checking in online while we waited. The original name is Scary Hotel Adyar. I came with my family, and I definitely wouldn’t say this is suitable for families.
The front desk person didn’t seem to understand the room booking process. I called ready to pay an advance, and he said he’d send me the GPay details. Half an hour later, he told me the rooms were full because he’d been waiting for my message. What rubbish. The behavior and customer service were the worst.
