The Leela Palace Chennai

The location and beautiful property are real strengths, and the rooms are spacious. Everyone we dealt with was warm, professional and courteous. Still, after several nights at other five-star hotels around the world, the experience here didn't consistently feel like a five-star stay, especially for the price. We had a smooth, welcoming late-night check-in after a redeye flight, but the master light control in our first room didn't work. The hotel moved us to a nearby room within 10 minutes. That room seemed not to have been fully prepared: there was one bathrobe, no ironing board or weighing scale, and the iron was damaged and leaking because a part was missing. Those smaller issues were fixed quickly, but shouldn't happen at this price. Chipped bathroom glass, dated furniture and an older TV setup also made the rooms feel like they're showing their age. Breakfast had a nice spread and attentive staff, but after four nights it was basically the same each day and nothing mind-blowing. With room condition and attention to detail closer to the quality of the staff and property, this could be one of Chennai's best stays. I'd have rated it higher.

We left our weekend getaway feeling content, refreshed and very satisfied. The sea-facing room had an incredible view, especially at sunrise, and its interiors were top-notch and kept clean throughout. There was plenty of food at both evening high tea and the morning buffet, with exceptional service. The pool was well maintained, and we enjoyed the sauna and Jacuzzi. The whole team at The Leela Palace, Chennai looked after us from booking through check-out. Mr Mrinal at reception explained the services and facilities and made check-out quick; our Butler, Ms Sanjana, guided us during the stay, and our floor in charge, Ms Gloria, was always available to help. They also made special arrangements for the occasion we were celebrating. We'd gladly plan more staycations here and recommend it to others.

The conference for Petronas Lubricants ran seamlessly, from the technology setup to the atmosphere and all the details. A super experience, and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for luxury, great service and a memorable stay.
