Woodlands Inn

The hotel was easy to get around, with lifts, and shops and food options nearby. Our family had a smooth, comfortable stay, including our young children and an elderly relative. The room had space for all of us, the children could move around safely, and the beds were cozy enough for everyone to sleep well. The bathroom was clean and well maintained, which mattered to us with both kids and a senior family member. Staff were kind and patient, and check-in was quick, so we weren’t left waiting with tired children. I’d recommend it to families traveling with children and elders.

Golden Beach is within walking distance, and the location works well for sightseeing around the city, especially Marina Beach. Restaurants are within 700mts, with A2B a preferable option. The management has good safety measures in place, including smart-card access that prevents people from simply entering rooms at random. The rooms are clean and well maintained. Wider luggage racks, a tea kettle, and cupboards for clothes would be useful.

The best part for me was how close Woodlands Inn is to Chepauk Stadium, right opposite it, and about a kilometre from Marina. I was in Chennai for a conference and stayed there from 25th February to 1st March in an Economy Single room. As a first-time visitor, I found it gave me more than I expected. The room was air conditioned, with hot water available 24/7, and came with an electric kettle and a welcome kit with tea equipments, a packet of Lay's, and a grooming kit. There was no cupboard, though the room probably didn’t have space for one. They provided a litre of water each day, and every floor had a water filter, so guests didn’t need to spend money on water. At reception there’s a fridge with cold drinks and a massage chair, charged at Rs 100 for 15 minutes. After long conference days, those 15 minutes felt heavenly. I was also there when India played Zimbabwe at Chepauk for the Super 8 match in T20 World Cup 2026. I didn’t attend the match, but being so close to the action was awesome, and the vibes were immaculate. Anyone wanting to stay near the old city should consider this hotel.

We were four people and had a comfortable stay, with a double bed and two singles in the side room. Everything was neat and clean. The room had a hair dryer, kettle, tea back, sugar, snacks, tissue paper, and more, plus four water bottles for the four of us. Room service and reception responded quickly and took care of things. The service was excellent and worth the price. If I return to Chennai, I’ll definitely choose this hotel again. Recommended, and thank you to everyone.
