Shalom Villa by Vista Rooms

Ebie, the caretaker, made our stay especially memorable. He was sweet, answered everything with a smile, and was always ready to help. The cook chechi, whose name I didn’t get, made delicious food and was lovely in the way she interacted with us. Cleaning chechi made everything seamless. The place is so good because of the staff, and I really appreciate how ready they were to help. We stayed two nights at shalom villa and enjoyed it so much. The house has old-world charm, cleanliness was spot on, and the food was tasty and reasonably priced. We asked for dinner both nights, and they cooked whatever we requested. The pool was clean and a good size for a group of ten. There are three spacious rooms and one smaller but airy room. The beach is a five-minute walk away. I’d definitely visit again and recommend it.

We had some of the best days of our lives here. The staff under caretaker Eby were terrific, available for requests and errands whenever we needed them, but otherwise left us to enjoy our time. The food was amazing, and I’d suggest eating in instead of ordering from other restaurants. Shalom villa feels like an underrated holiday gem, offering great value without gimmicks. The rooms are well equipped and have a lovely traditional malayali character, which is especially appealing if you’re malayali. I’ve stayed at resorts around the world, including CGH and Xandari pearl in Marari on earlier visits, and this place really impressed me.

The villa looked beautiful, and the food was good. Our caretaker was polite and sincere, which made a nice difference. But our group of 12 ran into a messy check-in because the place was overbooked and another family had already been given rooms. The bathrooms were awkward too: some opened directly into the room with poor ventilation, and others had no door or just a curtain. The nearby beach could be a plus, but it wasn’t very clean. Lovely to look at, though not especially comfortable or practical for a group.

The pool and breakfast were fine, but the rest of our one-night stay was awful. We had booked the whole villa, and the power went out around midnight. It still hadn’t come back by 7 a.m. Nobody came when we called, and no one answered the phone overnight, so we barely slept.
