Hotel Navya Palace by OYO Rooms

The service was excellent, and the rooms were nice.

Bad service. We’d only checked in about half an hour earlier when my partner and I noticed a cigarette smell in the room and talked about it between ourselves in Malayalam. After we’d nearly settled in and started getting ready, the room boy came by and asked whether we wanted another room. I said no. About five minutes later, he returned to say the room had actually been assigned to other guests. My partner was using the loo, so I asked for a little time. We were repeatedly pressed to move while my partner was struggling with the flush, and staff spoke sharply to me, saying other guests were waiting and we had to move right then. The hotel gave us that room in the first place, then treated us as if we were trespassing. Even if other guests were waiting, could they not have shown us some hospitality and let us use the loo in peace?

I was there with my family in room 203. We had power cuts for three hours in the daytime and another four to five hours at night. The receptionist kept saying it would come back, but it never did. For such a good hotel, there was no generator or other lighting arrangement. I asked for the manager’s number or to speak with the manager, but the receptionist wouldn’t give me the number. When I asked for water, he told me I’d have to go downstairs and collect it myself.

I wouldn’t suggest this place for families. It might suit groups of guys looking to hang out in the rooms with cheap hot drinks in Daman. The rooms aren’t up to standard, the washrooms are just okay, and the bedsheets and pillow covers we got weren’t clean.
