Anutri Hill Resort

The building looks iconic from Batasia Loop, and parking was excellent. It’s quite cold and a bit far from the main town, though. Lawrence Thapa was especially helpful with local tips, and the evening buffet was fantastic value. The rooms were comfortable and had bed warmers, but room heaters and more rugs would help with those freezing floors. A very satisfying stay with excellent service, though I’d put it at 4/5 stars.

A great pick for staying out of Darjeeling’s crowds while remaining within reach of Mall Road. The hotel overlooks Batasia loop, with stunning mountain views. The food, staff and room were all excellent.

The food is fine, though it’s not the standout here. The Chinese dishes were comforting but average in taste and presentation, and breakfast was simple, enough to start the day without being memorable. The complimentary Darjeeling tea on arrival was decent. What makes Anutri Hill Resort special is the mountain scenery. From the rooms and seating areas, you can take in the Darjeeling hills, Batasia Loop, and, when the clouds clear, Kanchenjunga. Early mornings are especially lovely, as the misty blue hills turn golden in the sunrise. It’s the kind of view that makes you linger over your tea.

The staff were courteous and polite, though service took a while, and the food could use a lot of improvement. Some dishes tasted very average. The rooms have a nice premium finish, but the Kanchenjunga and Batasia Loop views are only available from the Honeymoon attic or premium view rooms, so book one of those if you want the scenery from your window. From those rooms, the bird's eye view of Batasia Loop with Kanchenjunga to the right is breathtaking. This is the only hotel available in Darjeeling for the best view of both in one frame, and it’s otherwise highly recommended for the views.
