Darjeeling Hotel Summer Palace

There was no parking, and the narrow stairway made carrying luggage difficult. The hotel has no lift and is far from Mall Road. From the balcony there was no Kanchenjunga view, just broken huts, unattractive buildings, and slums. The online pictures didn't match what we found at Darjeeling Summer Palace. We paid 3000 rupees upfront, but the room was dirty and unhygienic. It smelled, the bedsheets weren't washed, furniture was broken, and the whole place felt dingy. The bathroom was like a public roadside bathroom. The hotel is between the slums, and even on a tight budget I'd look elsewhere. There are cleaner, more affordable hotels nearer Mall Road with actual staff to help. The owner didn't deal with our concerns or refund us, which showed little integrity or care for guests. The real conditions didn't match the advertised amenities. Think twice before staying here, and beware.

The rooms were low quality and in very bad condition. Staff behavior was awful too.

The staff were so unprofessional they hardly seemed like hotel staff. Don't book here if you don't want your holiday spoiled.

The service was fine, but the room and bathroom were dirty and hadn't been cleaned before we arrived. There was no hot water coming through the pipe, even though there was a water heater in the bathroom. The owner didn't seem concerned about guests. If zero stars were an option, that's what I'd give. Don't go there, it's a ghost place.
