Dust, sand and cement marks covered the floors while construction was going on with guests still in the rooms. The rooms were shabby and damp, with moisture spots visible on the walls and in every corner. If you leave the doors and windows open, cold clouds come inside. Service was poor too. Every morning we had to call the owner from the bathroom to tell them the water had stopped. The location may work if you can manage narrow stairs and then climb uphill to Darjeeling Mall. Absolutely not recommended.

My parents really liked the quiet, peaceful atmosphere, and the room and food were pretty decent. We stayed from 10-11 Oct. The walk from Bhanu Bhawan to the homestay was a bit hard for them. It's just below Mall Road, though, and we could get to the mall in 15 minutes.

The owner was good humored and well organized, and the hospitality was kind and understanding. The food she provided was delicious. Our neat, clean rooms had full mountain views, and the mountain dining room was attached to the rooms. One thing to keep in mind: older or heavier people should avoid it because the walk down to the mall is steep. There is another option, though: contact the owner or visit the owner's other hotel beside the mall. It was a marvelous experience for me.

The owner, madam and sir, were very down to earth and treated us like guests in their own home. Excellent ambience, service and food. Truly recommend this place.

The water supply was terrible, just a few drops from the tap, and the toilet was awful, with a flush that didn't work at all. The owner's behavior was very bad too. We left for another hotel that evening even though we'd already paid one day in advance, because my mother was having trouble climbing up and down the route. I really disliked this inn and wouldn't recommend it. I didn't even want to give it one star. The worst.
