Hotel Meghma, Darjeeling

I stayed two nights in Room 401 at Hotel Meghma, on Gandhi Road, Near Canara Bank in Darjeeling. The full amount for both nights was taken in advance, with no flexibility or transparency. When we complained about the room and missing amenities, nobody offered compensation or a refund. We paid for a hotel stay but got no value for money. The biggest problem started when we arrived: the room was filthy, with stained sheets and rubbish left by previous guests, including food wrappers and drink bottles. Housekeeping clearly hadn’t cleaned it, so we had to do it ourselves to make the room bearable. There was no electric kettle, tea, or coffee, not even one packet, so I went out to buy basic supplies. We were put on the fourth floor with no lift, and nobody warned us or offered help. We had to carry our luggage up all four floors. Anyone with mobility issues, elderly relatives, or children should avoid this place. The staff and waiters were rude and arrogant. When we requested room service, they refused, saying they couldn’t do it because we were on the fourth floor. One waiter was especially condescending and made us feel unwelcome. At checkout, that same waiter demanded an extra tip despite having done nothing. We were treated terribly for asking for basic service. This was the worst hotel stay of my life. The room was dirty, staff were rude, and basic services and amenities were missing. I’d never recommend Hotel Meghma. Save your money and stay away; there are much better options in Darjeeling.
