The property has so much character, and we were fascinated by its charm. Each room feels as if it has its own history, and the unmistakable British atmosphere adds to the sense of elegance and calm. Ms. Anna was soft-spoken, generous, and gracious, while Mr. Rupam was always smiling and ready to help. Their hospitality made the stay memorable. Team Ivanhoe, you've earned admirers for life, and we're looking forward to coming back. A lovely mix of heritage and warmth, highly recommended.

Mall Road is close by, which is handy for tourists, especially when Darjeeling traffic means a car can take longer than walking. The staff add to the homely feel, while the amenities still make it feel like a hotel. This is a real heritage building, with old teak floors and ceilings, antiques on the staircase, and a fireplace that still works. One small drawback is getting in: the lane and turn at the gate are narrow, so it can be tricky for an SUV dropping off or picking up guests. Apart from that, it's a very fine place to stay and easy to recommend.

Service is what really sets Ivanhoe apart from many hotels we've stayed in across India. Mr. Dey, the General Manager, goes out of his way to make sure guests are comfortable and attended to. Ms. Anna, the Quality Manager, brings a lovely personal touch and makes sure you're well fed and cared for. The old colonial property is immaculately maintained, with beautiful woodwork, period furniture, and old-world charm throughout. Just off the Mall, it's also wonderfully convenient for restaurants, pubs, cafes, and shops. The front garden is a great spot to unwind after sightseeing. We'd feel confident staying here with family.

If you're after space, heritage character, and warm, personal hospitality, Ivanhoe has a lot going for it. The team's coordination improved a lot from day two, and everyone became warm, polite, and helpful. They took thoughtful care of our kid, including giving us kitchen access and packing food to our instructions. Breakfast was simple and satisfying: poori sabji, aloo paratha, bread, and jam. The rooms are large, clean, and true to the colonial feel, with heaters and plenty of character over modern polish. Our first day was rough: the cook was on emergency leave, staff felt stretched, we carried our own luggage, and room service was unreliable when we called. Parking is a challenge too. It isn't a premium luxury hotel, so polished systems and modern amenities may not meet your expectations. At the price, though, it was worth every penny for us, as long as you arrive with the right expectations.

Anna, who I believe runs the property, was incredibly kind when my mother and I fell quite ill. We're both immunocompromised, and the staff helped us get medication, which made a big difference. I can't recommend Ivanhoe enough. We had the spacious, sunny T.T.La Suite, with a gorgeous heritage feel and lots of little places to sit and relax. The location is great too, especially since getting around Darjeeling is difficult without many public transport options. There are no autos or buses, just taxis that can be quite pricey at about 100rs/km.
