The noise made it hard to rest: repairs went on continuously, people shouted and argued late at night, and staff did nothing when we complained. Rooms were also in poor shape, with stale air, dirty sofa covers and towels, smelly wooden interiors, and bathrooms that needed better cleaning and water flow. Several guests mentioned damp, unpleasant smells that weren't dealt with. During my stay it was freezing, there was no electricity or hot water, and conversations from neighboring rooms came through clearly. Room service took over an hour, with overcrowding at the restaurant given as the reason. The rooms felt badly maintained, and the hotel’s framed actor photos don't reflect the reality. The whole experience was a nightmare, and far from what is advertised. I’d urge anyone posting positive reviews to consider whether they’re genuine or paid.

The room was roomy and nicely decorated, though it wasn't as clean as it first seemed. There was no mountain view from our window, and the geyser was awful. Staff behavior was not very satisfactory either. The hotel sits on a narrow, busy street. It's a reasonable distance from the bus stand and market, and from Darjeeling Mall, but reaching the places around Keventer’s takes at least a 10-minute walk. The gate was shut after 10 PM, which made coming in late difficult even though Darjeeling Mall stays lively until at least 10:30.

Those three days at Hotel Seven Seventeen were fantastic. The food at the restaurant, the ambience, and the hospitality all impressed us, and every staff member treated us so well. We enjoyed our stay thoroughly, and everything went beyond what we expected. It was a fantabulous time.

Most places in Darjeeling were easy to get to from here. I was pretty satisfied with the facilities and had a very nice stay.

The atmosphere was lovely, and I really liked everything about the stay. The food was amazing, too. It's right by Mall road, with spacious rooms, sanitized bathrooms, and hot water available around the clock. The service was amazing. Definitely worth a try if you're coming to Darjeeling.
