There’s lots of free parking, and the central spot near Saharanpur Chowk is easy to reach. The surrounding area feels more practical than upscale, with plenty of shops and dhabas nearby. Ashoka is clearly aimed at budget stays, so don’t expect a luxury experience. The rooms are spacious enough for guests to gather and chat, which makes the hotel useful for large wedding functions using the open ground.
The room and bedding were clean, and for a budget hotel it covers the basics. The geyser didn’t work, so I had to move rooms, but the staff arranged that without a fuss. They’re friendly, though not especially competent. Fine for a short stay or a small gathering.
After a 12-hour journey, our driver had to sleep in the car because the hotel couldn’t arrange a bed for him. The rooms and washrooms were filthy, food was not good, and the hotel help made the experience worse. There were no towels and the water supply wasn’t proper. A terrible stay.
The location is convenient, with the railway station and bus stand both within a 4 mile radius. Even the single-bed room is roomy enough to fit at least 10 people.
Good hotel for a genuine price, and the location is prime. This was Hotel Ashoka in Howrah Kolkatta, where they use stale meat. They don’t use dog meat, foolish people. Don’t go by fake news on WhatsApp, you can check Google.
