Hotel Himalayan Club

I booked a family suite, but the staff showed me three rooms and none had a view. They said those were the only options available. They also wouldn’t provide complimentary water bottles, explaining that the kitchen is run by a third party and water would be charged. Based on this, I’d recommend booking directly instead of through an app, since app-booked guests don’t seem to be treated well.

Getting to the hotel is difficult: it’s far uphill with sharp turns. Once there, we found the rooms dirty and in very poor condition, and the hospitality overall was bad. The staff spoke to guests without manners and seemed to be peeking around all the time. They charged a lot each day for a room heater. Food quality was poor, the menu limited, and breakfast was the same each day: aalu pyaaj paratha, Allu sabji poori, and poha. My family and I had so many problems I can’t explain them all here. I don’t know how this hotel got 3 Star.

The only good thing about our room was the view. We stayed three days and two nights, but there was no room cleaning or towel change, and there was a huge spider in the bathroom. The two economy rooms available through online booking look like this: small, smelly, and dirty. I wouldn’t book online again, since you may want to leave the same day. If you’re traveling with elderly people and don’t have a vehicle, getting up there will be very difficult.

I didn’t check in. After I entered my details in the register and just before payment, they showed me terms saying they could ask anyone to leave at any time without giving a reason, and that they weren’t responsible for theft. Hotels have second and third keys too, so to me it meant theft could happen, and once you sign that paper, you can’t hold them responsible. I’ve never seen another hotel in India ask guests to sign terms like that. The building is very old, the charges are on the high side, and the rooms smell.
