Hotel Queen of Hills

At these room prices, the location and ambience are the main reasons to consider staying here. The views are fantastic and the location convenient. The surroundings are clean, parking is good, and the hotel driver made sure the car was parked safely. The oil room heater was one of the best I’ve used and kept the room cozy. The food was poor and tasteless, both at breakfast and in the restaurant. Wi-Fi didn’t work about 80% of the time. Room service was awful: they didn’t provide basic things like moisturizer despite being asked 3-5 times, and there wasn’t even a comb. Reception staff were irresponsible and unresponsive. Most concerning, the hotel had no first aid kit or even a thermometer. Both rooms were dusty and untidy, with stained sheets and pillow covers. We called 3-4 times in the 1-2 days before check-in to ask for clean, hygienic rooms because we had an infant, but they still hadn’t cleaned them properly.

The room had a good view, but that was the one bright spot. The hotel is up at a higher altitude, away from the main Mall Road, so we had to take a cab each time we went out. For the price, the rooms weren’t worth it. The sheets, towels, and other linen were unclean, and the rooms were poorly maintained and unhygienic. Our geyser and door locks weren’t working properly. We raised the problems repeatedly, but staff only smiled and said housekeeping would handle them; nothing was actually done. Breakfast was just as disappointing, with few options and poor taste. I’d strongly advise against booking here.

The non-ortho mattress was the one thing that kept this from a full five stars. We had exceptional restaurant service, and every staff member was polite and helpful, with a smile. They also helped us rent bikes. A genuine review, and I hope to visit again.

I booked through agoda but couldn’t make the trip because of unforeseen circumstances at home. I tried to cancel, but somehow the booking never got cancelled. When I told them I hadn’t visited and that they could deduct a cancellation fee, they charged me the full amount instead. It wasn’t even peak season, so they had no excuse. The service was awful, and I feel they’re making money by defrauding people. I’ll never recommend this hotel or agoda to anyone.
