OYO Flagship 22884 Hotel Shingar

The view from the hotel is better, with gun hill point visible, and there’s a shortcut that leads straight to DOMINOS. Still, getting there is a steep walk: from the taxi stand, Bata outlet is about 650-700 mtr away, then the hotel is another 150 mtrs up the hill. A taxi drops you around 300 mtr before Picture Palace, and from there it’s another 400-450 mtrs on foot. The hotel is average, and they change the room and its category. When booking online, they show pictures of a different room, then give you a basic small one because your booking is prepaid. The manager keeps asking if it’s prepaid, then says you’ll have to check in to that room. TV and wifi weren’t working. Parking is available, but the road is too narrow for SUVs. I’d suggest using Library Chowk bus stand or taxi stand.

The staff provided good service and were very polite. There are two terraces and a great area for a walk. The rooms were clean and felt like rooms at home, though they weren’t very good. There were nicer rooms too, but they cost more.

I booked through Expedia for 15th April to 17th April 2022, but the site manager wouldn’t let me check in. He said the site had been removed from Oyo, even though it was still taking online bookings from multiple sites. I was really harassed by the situation, and because it was peak season, I couldn’t find a nearby hotel. I had to return early because of this. Please don’t book this hotel through any online site, as it’s under dispute and not taking orders, and you’re likely to face inconvenience.

I wasn’t satisfied with the condition of the rooms we were offered. The room, including the toilets, windows, and doors, was dirty and unhygienic. What’s shown beforehand isn’t what you actually get, which was highly disappointing. The hotel service and staff deserve 4 stars, but Oyo’s service gets zero stars.
