ASR Guest House by OYO Rooms

The food was good, and it’s probably the only reason I’d give this place more than one star. I booked all five rooms from 16th to 18th Apr. The place was decent, but nowhere near worth the price. One person handles everything, from food to the other amenities, and the owner was extremely rude. There wasn’t a water jug in the rooms, so at night you had to go out to the verandah for every glass. They also provide the tiniest Medimix soaps for showering, so bring your own toiletries. I’d avoid it unless everywhere else around Janakpuri is full.

The food is affordable and tastes homemade, and the service is friendly and feels first class. The hotel is near IGI airport, with a nature-friendly setting. It’s one of the best rooms and hotels available in Delhi.

The one small drawback was a couple of stained spots on the walls. Otherwise, the rooms were great and all the appliances worked properly. The hosts were very friendly and helpful, a welcome change from the don't-care attitude you often get in medium-budget hotels. They also made me an early breakfast when I asked, which I appreciated. The food was good and not too spicy. For the price, it’s a great place to stay, and I say that after trying a number of Delhi hotels, mostly in paharganj.

This was the worst experience I could have expected, and I felt ashamed about what happened. Last year I booked the guest house for my sister-in-law to get her makeup done before her engagement. The owner and her son shouted at my guests the whole time. At first they wouldn’t let them in, saying three guests weren’t allowed, even after we explained that nobody would stay and they’d leave in 3-4 hours. We had to plead before they finally let them enter. Then they wouldn’t serve the coffee my guests asked for, and shouted at them again as they were leaving. They spoiled her engagement night.
