Hotel Tashkent Palace - New Delhi Railway Station - Paharganj

The bed was stained and had hair on it, and the bucket leaked. We were very dissatisfied. The receptionists were extremely rude, and there was no drinking water provided. They agreed when we asked for two extra plates, but never brought them. We’d understood early check-in and late checkout, two hours each, were complimentary. Instead, they said each extra hour would cost 300₹. Pick-up and drop-off from the railway station and airport were also said to be included, but even after asking, we were told we’d have to pay. At checkout they wouldn’t help with our bags. My sick friend and I had to carry everything and walk quite a way before finding a rickshaw.

The room was cramped, but still big enough for two. I checked ahead about bike parking and was glad they allowed one bike per stay. The staff were cordial, and check-in through payment and getting the room key was smooth. A handy budget-friendly option in Paharganj.

There are lots of restaurants right nearby, and I found the staff very polite. The hotel is also notably foreigner-friendly. It’s a pretty typical Paharganj stay, with AC, hot water, good Wi-Fi, and a water dispenser in the lobby.

The alley outside is so narrow that a taxi can’t reach the door. On arrival, the receptionist immediately tried to sell us tours and services, and I had to repeat that we’d already booked everything. We could only pay in cash, not by card. Since we didn’t have IDR, we had to find an ATM that night, though they let us leave our bags in the room first. The room and bathroom were the worst part: thick dust and dirt under the beds and on shelves, plus water stains and mould on the bathroom walls and doors. Probably the dirtiest hotel I’ve stayed in.
