The rooftop was a lovely spot for meals, and we really enjoyed it. Back then they didn’t cook in-house, so we ordered from a nearby restaurant. The food took ages to arrive and we were starving, but the servers were sweet, looked after us well, and helped with our luggage. I first visited McLeod Ganj as a tourist in 2017. My friends were staying here, so I booked a room too. Mine had a really nice theme, though I can’t remember which one. My two other friends had the Radha Krishna theme and another had the Jungle one. All of them were so pretty. The rooms had spectacular views over the whole valley and mountains. I could sit on the balcony watching outside forever.

My wife and I spent three weeks at Sidhharth House in Oct/Nov 2016, and had a peaceful, relaxing stay in this lovely house. We had a themed room that was comfortable and had the best mountain view. It was quiet, and we had everything we needed, including hot showers. The morning sun on the balcony was wonderful. Even as an older couple, we managed the stairs and walk into town fine, and it was good for the calf muscles. We liked the location and the peace and quiet. The managers were lovely and happy to help when needed, without intruding. The area was wonderful for relaxing, and we felt the accommodation was excellent value. In 10 minutes we could reach the main place of Mcloid ganj and its many interesting restaurants. In the evening we enjoyed tea in the house cafe with Tabasum and John. The main drawback is the uphill walk to the town center from this hotel, which is a bit far from the main street. Still, most popular restaurants in Mcleodganj are within 1 km. The staff were friendly, and Mr. Prince made sure our requests were met. The balcony had an amazing view of the dualadhar range. Cleanliness was satisfactory, though the furniture is old. Bathrooms have water heaters, while room heaters cost extra per day. Overall, we had a pleasant stay.

I stayed for more than a week and was happy with the service from the first day. The sun room really earns its name, with lovely morning sunshine and fresh air, and the view of the hills and two snowcapped peaks is spectacular. The rooms were very clean, and the facilities felt good for this location. I’d heard nice things about the place and, after a bad experience at another hotel, wanted to see for myself. The friendly staff welcomed me right away and offered tea when they showed me my room. I ended up chatting with people for nearly two hours. I’m already looking forward to coming back :)

We left after a terrible stay and made the 20-30 minute trip to another place, which turned out to be great. I wouldn’t spend your time or money on this establishment. My partner and I arrived around 23:30 after taking a bus from Amritsar to Dharamasala, then finding our way from the drop-off point to McLeod Ganj and the guest house. The host wasn’t sure we even had a booking, despite my showing several confirmation emails for two nights. He eventually found it around 00:30, then said we might have to pay, although I showed him it was already paid in full. After more waiting and discussion with staff, he put us in a room he said we had to take because we checked in late and the rest of the guest house was full. That wasn’t true. The room had no mirror, toilet roll, or fan. Plastic wrap was still on the mattress, and the sheets looked old and already slept in. The curtains barely covered the windows. After a rough night, we spoke to the owner at the desk. He again claimed the place had been full, though it clearly hadn’t been, and there was no reason we couldn’t have had the proper room. When we told him we’d paid around 4000 rupees for the two nights, he apologized and moved us to the room we should have had from the start. It had the basic amenities and a more comfortable bed. As we were getting ready to go out, he banged loudly on our door. When my partner opened it, he barged in and shouted that we hadn’t paid 4000. I showed him the payment on his phone, but he accused us of lying and stealing from him. There was no apparent reason to raise his voice like that.
