The Hosteller Dharamshala

I really enjoyed the three nights I spent at The Hosteller. The evenings had a fun, welcoming feel, with a bonfire where people could hang out, swap stories, and meet each other. The food was a pleasant surprise too. I don’t usually expect much from hostel cafés, but dinner here was genuinely good. There’s a volunteer who organizes and leads treks and trips to local places, which made planning my days much easier. Comfortable, sociable, and great for exploring.

The whole valley view is stunning, especially early and late in the day, and the quiet setting with fresh mountain air made the stay feel restful. My room was clean, comfortable, and well maintained, and the property is away from city noise. The staff were polite and helpful. Mr. Sharan deserves a special mention for being calm, humble, welcoming, and supportive. His kindness added a personal touch to a memorable stay at The Hosteller Dharamshala. I’d recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

Raj Ji was a wonderful host. He helped us sort out travel plans and taxi bookings, and I enjoyed hearing about his trekking experiences. The views from The Hosteller Dharamshala are breathtaking, making the somewhat isolated and difficult-to-reach location worth it if you want to relax away from crowds. I’d suggest arranging your own two-wheeler before you arrive, since there aren’t any bike rental shops nearby right now.

I liked my stay so much that I extended it. The rooms were spotless, which makes sense since the property was only two months old. The vegetarian food was tasty, though I wish they used reusable plates instead of single-use ones. It’s a peaceful, scenic retreat about 7 km from town, with beautiful sunrise and sunset views, hillside campfires, and great stargazing on New Moon nights. Manager “Uncle” Sharan was kind and gentle, and helped me sort out logistics when I arrived, staying in touch on the way to make sure I got there safely and on time. Snigdhe was a fantastic volunteer and host, welcoming me and arranging activities, including an easy hike to Bhagsu Nag and relaxing campfire evenings with good music.
