The rooms weren't clean or well maintained, and for the price I expected a lot better. Hot water was unreliable, sometimes only lukewarm and sometimes unavailable, which is a real problem in a cold place like Kodaikanal. Breakfast was another frustration. It was only served at 9:30 AM, with no flexibility, so our plans got delayed each morning. I stayed at crescent Park and came away disappointed. I wouldn't recommend it unless they make significant improvements.

The parking and lawn were good, and there was a place for a campfire, though rain stopped us from having one. The hotel is a few kilometers from Kodaikanal lake, and there are a number of rooms. Food can be ordered, but you have to do so well in advance. We got the place through a reference and found it average. The Tamil movie Ram starring Jeeva was filmed in this locality, which may be why the area later became a home-stay spot. The room photos we were sent during booking didn't match what we got, so be careful when booking. The toilet wasn't clean, the lighting was very poor, and safety felt risky. We paid 2500 for a room that was in poor condition, though we only stayed from 9 p.m. to 8 a.m. They refused our request for a discount. Since it was high season, we had no other choice. I heard the OYO rooms are supposed to be good, but our experience was different.

We paid 8000 Indian rupees for four rooms for one night, but there was no hot water, even though they said it would be available from 6 to 10 in the morning. There was no room heater or electric kettle either. We had our kids with us, and the cold made things difficult. We asked about having a bonfire at night and were told it would cost an extra 1500 Indian rupees. With no hot water or kettle, I can't recommend staying there. Sorry.

We stayed at crescent park Kodaikanal last week and had a good time. It's near Kodai lake, about 3/4 km away, and downhill from Kodai town. The home stay is surrounded by nature and the price is affordable. Room service was good, and the staff are a real asset to the owner. I could see how much Mr Akbar Sait values the staff, and how they value him.

The place is surrounded by beautiful scenery, and the staff and manager were always smiling and ready to help. Room service by phone needs improvement, and it's a bit far from the lake. Still, if you want privacy, it's a nice place to go.
