BCanti Boutique Beach Resort

The beach was a favorite for us. It felt private and was great for kids, with a long, shallow stretch where we could relax and keep an eye on them as they had lots of room to play. The hotel is north of the busy area, so it felt much more secluded and peaceful. We came from the US with our children and elderly parents, and the staff worked incredibly hard and were always attentive, helpful, and smiling. We enjoyed the restaurant and the very good breakfast that was included each day. We also joined the free morning yoga at the B Canti ashram, just a couple of minutes down the road, and had a nice massage. I’d recommend those services. The New Year’s event was great too, with a big, varied buffet, dancers, live music, and fireworks. We had a very nice stay and feel lucky to have found this gem. Thanks to the whole team. The restaurant service was erratic, and the food wasn’t good. I couldn’t eat the French fries, which was a first for me, and the fish was thin, dry, and didn’t taste fresh. The beach nearby was difficult to reach down a rocky path, and it was covered with plastic bottles and rubbish. The area above it was dirty too, with picnic and drinking litter left behind. We didn’t use the small pool. We’d booked two nights after trusting the good reviews and overlooking the bad ones, but that was a mistake. For the first time ever, we checked out after one night and paid the cost ourselves. The staff tried their best, but the hotel felt old and tatty. Our room was small, dark, and dingy, the bed wasn’t comfortable, the bedding was frayed and torn, and the pillows were just foam. This doesn’t feel like a five-star luxury boutique hotel.

The restaurant, The Bait and Hook, served really tasty food. Prices were a bit high, but considering the taste, service, and setting, it felt worth it. The team was also great, always smiling and putting in a lot of effort to make the stay special. The resort sits by the sea in Edava, away from the busy North Cliff area. It’s a lovely choice if you’re looking to relax somewhere quiet and enjoy some solitude. I’d say it’s a must-visit if you’re planning a trip to Varkala.

Getting there was easy to arrange over WhatsApp. We booked through chat without even making a call. The beach is just a few steps away, the rooms were clean, and we could get assistance whenever we needed it. The breakfast buffet was good, the pool was clean, and there was plenty of parking. The whole team was helpful and supportive during our stay, and there were good food options if you wanted lunch or dinner. If you’re a good walker, you can walk from the resort to both the north and south cliffs.
