The Kufri House

We felt relaxed and well looked after at this peaceful hotel in the Kufri-Fagu area. The hill views are stunning, and cleanliness is taken care of. Staff were polite and well trained, with outstanding service. The food was really good, especially breakfast.

At The Kufri House, the food was a highlight: homemade pahadi dishes, generous portions, and they were happy to adjust the spice level or veg/non-veg. We had parathas and hot maggi for breakfast, then siddu, rajma chawal, or chicken curry for meals. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and made to order. No fancy restaurant feel, just comforting home cooking. The rooms are clean, cozy, and spacious enough to relax in, with soft beds, neat private bathrooms, hot water, and little balconies. They’re not overly luxurious, but the wooden touches and simple decor give them an authentic pahadi feel. The mountain views are incredible, with rolling hills, deep valleys, and apple orchards in season. On clear days you can spot distant snowy summits. Sunrise paints the landscape gold, and in the evenings mist rolls in and stars appear. The place sits between Kufri and Chail, in a peaceful spot away from crowds but close enough to visit Chail Palace, try Kufri adventures, or wander in the forests. The staff were welcoming and treated us like family, ready with extra blankets or hot water in the cold. It’s a sweet, cozy homestay for a memorable getaway with someone you love, family, or even solo. 5/5 from me.

We were in the middle of snowfall and the stay had no backup power. We went without electricity, a heater, or water, and couldn’t even get a bucket of warm water to bathe. We’d booked two days but left after one. Food took two hours to arrive because they didn’t have enough staff. The only attempt to make us comfortable was trying to light a fire to warm the premises. We got none of the basics, and it wasn’t worth the price. Even while we were in touch on the way there, they didn’t tell us that the power had been out for 24 hours. They said they were newly set up and couldn’t provide better service over the last 7 months. The place is 650m from the main road, and vehicles don’t reach the hotel in extreme weather. The adjacent stay has good balcony views too, with better facilities and similar or lower prices. We returned from the trip extremely disappointed. Please don’t waste your money here.

The owners and staff were soft-spoken, loving, and genuinely caring, and made us feel like family as soon as we arrived. At Kurti House in Chail, the rooms were spotless, fresh, cozy, and well maintained. The food was homely and delicious, with lovely fresh pahadi touches, and service was warm and prompt. A peaceful hill getaway, highly recommend. 5/5 stars!
