Hotel Kasturi

The room with a view looks out at Kanchanjunga Peak, and the hotel is close to M.G.Road and the Cab Stand. Prices are budget friendly. The food tastes good, but you need to tell them your preferred menu at least an hour ahead. For breakfast the next day, confirm tea or coffee the evening before or at night. The staff were good, humble, and very respectful toward tourists.

Being very close to the SNT bus station is a real advantage. But the staff behaviour wasn't good when I travelled with my family last month. They showed me three rooms and I chose two, since the other one didn't suit me. After I paid, they made me stay in the room I hadn't selected, so I changed hotels the very next day.

The restaurant is pure veg and the food was very good, so do enjoy a meal there. There’s no lift, which can make things difficult for senior citizens, though the stairs are in good condition and they may manage by taking them slowly. Rooms are very good, the staff are lovely, and prices are reasonable. You can book with breakfast included, or with breakfast and either lunch or dinner. It's about a five-minute walk to Gangtok Mall road. When the weather is clear, the view of "Kanchanjunga pick" is wonderful.

The location is superb, and the rooms aren't in great condition. Still, it's worth what you pay.
