The warmth and sincerity of the service made Hotel Pomra stand out. The hotel has had a recent change in management, and the improvement in service is clear, especially with the food. We had freshly prepared meals, including several made just for us, and the team put real care into them. Our cozy, well-kept room also came with a breathtaking Kanchanzonga view that made every morning special. The location was perfect, and the stay felt comfortable and personal. I’d highly recommend it for a Gangtok visit.

I really enjoyed staying here. It’s peaceful, the rooms are clean, and the mountain views are beautiful. The manager was great and always willing to help with any questions.

The hotel seems fine until you need anything. There’s no mineral water, and they didn’t provide a towel. For a double room, we got just one small soap. Tea came in a little paper cup. The TV recharge hadn’t been done in any of the rooms; even after several reminders, nothing changed, though the receptionist just smiled. Food also wasn’t available unless you told them in advance.

At dinner, the staff said they didn’t have enough meals to serve, even though we’d paid in full before checkout. When we argued about it, they made us leave the hotel at 11 pm and threatened to call the police. The whole dinner situation turned into chaos. There were only two service boys for the entire 5-6 storey building, and the manager, Deepak Chaudhary, didn’t know how to treat guests. Think twice before visiting.

It’s a budget place with a friendly, supportive atmosphere, though anyone looking for luxury may be disappointed. The location is beautiful, around 500-600 metres above MG Road, and you can see the kanchanjanga mountains from the restaurant or Room no 203. Breakfast is quite limited, so you might want to consider other options.
