The view from the window was fantastic, and my stay was really comfortable. Whenever I made a request, the staff took care of it. Thanks to manager Shankar and the team for their hospitality. It’s a bit far from MG Marg, though shared taxis can take you there. For places like Vajra taxi stand or the flower show stand for Nathula, you’ll need to hire a reserved taxi.

A small glimpse of the peak of Mt. Kangchenjunga is visible from the first-floor corridors in the early morning. My spacious first-floor room didn’t have a view, but it did have clean bedding, premium toilet accessories, hot water around the clock, a kettle with tea and coffee, an in-house Kent water purifier, and prompt room service when called. There are four view rooms on the first floor, a few other rooms there, and the rest are in the basement. Getting around is the main problem. The hotel is on a one-way road, and MG Marg is 1.5 km away up a very steep hill. There’s no hotel pickup or drop-off, and staff don’t help call a driver for MG Marg or the bus and taxi stands. Finding a taxi can come down to luck, especially early or late in the day. The hotel offers some package cabs, but they cost much more than drivers at local taxi stands. Like other Gangtok hotels, it doesn’t arrange shared cabs for Nathula or Changgu Lake. There was a long power cut on the morning of January 1. We learned the hotel’s generator was broken, and were told that power can sometimes be out for days because the area is prone to rockslides. We went sightseeing without bathing, and luckily the electricity was back by the time we returned. Otherwise, we would have faced a water shortage. Dinner is vegetarian only; for other meals, Swiggy or Zomato is an option. The food we had was okay, healthy, and reasonably priced.

The food was the best part for us. It’s a vegetarian hotel, but both the quality and portions were good. The staff were also kind and pleasant. We stayed two nights with family and friends. Our first room had all the comforts you’d expect from a decent hotel, though the view wasn’t nice. We asked for a room overlooking Gangtok town for the second night. It looked good at first, despite being smaller, but the bathroom drain didn’t work properly. Water pooled on the floor and kept building up whenever we used it. We complained, and the staff said they already knew about the problem, yet they’d given us the room without warning us.

We’re the Chennai FC football Team and stayed at crown dela Cruz for two weeks. We’re so happy with the hotel. It’s beautiful, the food is amazing, and the service is superb. The rooms are very clean, and all the staff are friendly. Housekeeping is polite, too. Hotel manager Mr. Sanker is a good person and very helpful, and Mr. Nikel Mahan and the rest of the staff were friendly. Thank you for your service, hotel crown dela Cruz.
