OYO 8701 Hotel Silk Route Residency

We were travelling from Guwahati and arrived late for check-in after a tiring trip. I was worried they might cancel our four-night booking and we’d be stuck, but Silk Route welcomed us kindly, kept the reservation, and even offered a discount. They really know how to treat tourists. Thank you, Silk Route.

Getting the mountain-view room I’d requested was a lovely part of my first visit to Gangtok. The hotel is close to M.G.Marg, though the walk up to it is quite steep. Rooms are clean and nicely arranged, the staff are friendly, and room service was very punctual. The food tasted good and had variety, and there’s parking too. WiFi was poor, and the room rate with meals felt a little high. Still, I had a great stay at The Grand Silk Route and hope to return.

We had a pleasant stay. The rooms were lovely and clean, the food was really tasty, and the staff were very helpful. The main M G Road market is about a 10-minute walk away.

I checked in for two days and wanted to leave as soon as possible. Even getting a glass of water meant asking over and over, and the phone still wasn’t working after I’d reported it three times. The manager said service would be like that if we weren’t hiring a taxi or having dinner there. We found a taxi outside for Changu Lake for 2500₹, while the manager had asked 4000₹. The staff were bad, management didn’t know how to deal with customers, and this was the worst service I’ve experienced. I wish I could give a negative rating.
