At The Fern Denzong, I spent one night in a Winter Green room facing the road, followed by three nights in a Winter Green Premium room. The premium room was spacious and comfortable, with lovely valley views. If you're lucky, you may spot snow-capped peaks in the distance. Rooms have plenty of lights, a ceiling fan, and windows that open for extra ventilation. Hot water was available throughout. The dim bathroom lighting could be improved. Breakfast and dinner had a good spread, and service was excellent. The small cafe also serves really tasty sweet and savoury food, along with great coffee. Front desk staff were very polite. MG Marg is within walking distance, but getting back to the hotel means an uphill climb.

The staff were warm and professional, and especially helpful with our large group. They kept the rooms in good order and handled our requests promptly. Breakfast had a good range, though we didn't try the other in-house food, so I can't comment on it. The Fern Denzong is very convenient for the heart of Gangtok, just a 3-5 minute walk from MG Marg. The uphill path back to the hotel is manageable, and being so close made evening walks to the main market easy. A great combination of comfort, food, and location.

It was a relaxing, memorable stay at The Fern Denzong, Gangtok. The location is peaceful and handy for the main sights, especially M G Road. Our room was spacious and well maintained, and the staff were courteous, always ready to help with a smile. The hotel was comfortable and clean, and the food was delicious, with a good choice at both breakfast and dinner. I'd happily stay again and recommend it to anyone visiting Gangtok.

We spent two nights in two rooms at The Fern Denzong Hotel & Spa in April 2026, and the stay was disappointing and not what we'd expected. Despite the claimed four-star standard, even basic food was a struggle. Breakfast had set hours, but staff and the chef couldn't manage simple dishes: the dosa wasn't prepared properly, and we waited around 25 minutes for an idli, hungry and frustrated. The rooms also lacked proper air conditioning. The vents seemed to be hollow plastic shells for display, leaving us uncomfortable. The property felt more like a dhaba than a premium hotel, and even lacked simple guest conveniences like umbrellas to get from the uncovered parking area to reception in the rain. The experience was far below expectations and not worth the price or the standards claimed. I ask that you not recommend this hotel to future clients.

Ms. Angela Bardewa made the stay special. She was incredibly friendly and polite, always ready to lend a hand with a smile, and made me feel welcome and valued. The room was clean, comfortable, and beautifully kept. A memorable visit, with service that makes me want to come back. Highly recommended.
