The Leenor Regency

The quiet atmosphere made the stay especially pleasant, and the staff were always courteous and happy to help. At Leenor Regency, our room was spacious, comfortable, and well kept. The food was good, and service came promptly. I had a very satisfying visit and would happily return.

We stayed for three days while traveling to Nathula, Zeropoint and return, and Pelling. Getting breakfast before 7 am on those days was much appreciated. The tea was tasty, and the poori sabji and Aloo paratha were especially good. Dinner arrived in under an hour and tasted good, though it was expensive. The rice could have been cooked longer. The rooms were neat and roomy, with spacious bathrooms and a separate shower area. There’s a taxi stand nearby. The drawback is getting to Bajra stand for Zero point or Chandmari stand for Nathula. We had to book a private cab, which is very costly in Gangtok.

The room had plenty of space, and the food was good. The hotel staff were very helpful.

Around 10:30 PM, I saw another tourist stuck outside after the shutter had been closed. He waited several minutes, then knocked to get the gate opened. The same manager came out and got into a fight with him just for trying to come in. Later, at about 11 PM, I politely asked for a jug of water. The manager, who seemed clearly drunk, started yelling that they were sleeping and refused. When I tried to speak calmly, he kept arguing. Another staff member tried to scare me, saying the hotel was owned by someone from the police department, then threatened to call the police superintendent and have me arrested over my request for water. I felt extremely unsafe and disrespected at Leenor Regency in Gangtok. No guest should be treated this way. The staff’s behavior, especially the manager’s, was completely unprofessional and unacceptable. I don’t recommend staying here.
