I spent about a week here, on and off, and found it a comfortable, very affordable place to stay. For a solo trip with plenty of exploring and adventure in mind, it worked really well. The owner, Mr. karmapa, is friendly and professional, and the people I met were great. It also felt very safe for women travelling alone.

Priya deserves a special thank you. She was kind and caring with everyone, and went out of her way to make sure people were comfortable and having a good time. That made the stay especially memorable. The Zostel property itself was amazing, and I’d definitely like to come back and stay here again.

The hilltop location is about a 25-30 minute walk from MG market, though you can get there by shared taxi. Hostel service was basic but decent, and the cleaning crew was reliable. My friend and I paid around ₹3000 a day for a small private Mountain View room. It felt a bit steep just for the view, and there wasn't much room to comfortably open two small suitcases. The in-house cafe was often out of some items, and the man taking orders at the counter came across as surly and spoke rather curtly.

The food, music, and general vibe were great, and the facilities were more than perfect. The hosts and staff were wonderful during my solo trip to Gangtok. Thanks, Zostel, for such a good experience. If you want to relax and meet new friends, this is a must-stay.
